Renault Twingo Gordini 100

French manufacturer Renault has announced the arrival of the Twingo Gordini 100. The newcomer costs £11,395 (based on the forthcoming 20 percent VAT rate) with deliveries starting in January.

The Renault Twingo Gordini 100 is powered by a 1.2 TCe (Turbo Control Efficiency) petrol engine developing 100hp at 5,500 rpm that can push the car to up to a top speed of 117 mph. The Renault Twingo Gordini 100 has the GT chassis with stiffer shock absorbers and bushes, and a recalibrated sports steering. The official Renault Twingo Gordini 100 specs list says the car offers a 49.5 mpg combined fuel consumption and a 132 g/km CO2 emissions level.

Other than that the Gordini recipe remains the same – blue, black or white paintwork with contrasting stripes, gloss black trim and colour-coded inserts inside. Standard kit includes a 4x20W RDS radio with single CD MP3 player, Bluetooth, audio input, air conditioning, 15-inch Turini alloy wheels with polished face and black inserts, cruise control, speed limiter and electric windows.

Inside a automobile is also influenced by a Gordini treatment, with dim CO cloth seats with embossed Gordini trademark and white stitching, blue doorway trim inserts with white stitching and blue leather-trimmed steering circle with dual white stripes, as good as Gordini blue rev-counter and change doorknob and a shimmer black centre console and aluminium pedals.

Recreating Gordini hatches has been hugely successful for Renault, especially amongst young and female drivers. Two thirds of Renaultsport Twingo 133 sales and one third of Renaultsport Clio 200 sales are now Gordini versions.

Press Release

Within a matter of months since the launch of the Gordini versions of the Renaultsport Twingo and Clio, Renault is now poised to launch an even more affordable, twin-striped version of its smallest model, Twingo, priced 11,395.

The new Twingo Gordini 100, powered by the 1.2 TCe (Turbo Control Efficiency) petrol engine, is aimed squarely at customers looking for good handling and affordable running costs, wrapped up in a chic and sporty three-door package.

The appeal of the Gordini versions of Twingo and Clio Renaultsport to a younger audience has
already surpassed expectations, with sales of both models having risen significantly. So much so, that since their arrival across Europe, the halo version of the Twingo now accounts for two-thirds of sales and one-third in the case of Clio. The French marque is now aiming to emulate such runaway success of its French flair models with its latest model, which slots into the range above Dynamique, in place of the former GT.

The newcomer is instantly recognisable as a Gordini, through its trademark twin racing stripes with subtle G badging across the bonnet, roof and tailgate. Its striking apparel continues with gloss black front and rear bumpers, extra-tinted rear windows and tailgate and discreet Gordini Series badging.

The sporty theme continues with its colour palette choice of three Malta Blue, with white Gordini stripes and matching details (foglight surrounds, door mirrors and rear spoiler), or Pearlescent Black and Glacier White. In the case of the latter, the styling details are picked out in anthracite.

On the inside, the bespoke ambience continues. The Gordini 100 features dark carbon cloth seats with embossed Gordini logo and white stitching,
blue door trim inserts with white stitching and blue leather-trimmed steering wheel with two white stripes to indicate the straight ahead position. The Gordini rev-counter naturally comes in trademark blue with white background and bezel, while the Gordini gear lever knob shares the same blue hue, as does the gear lever base. Completing the raft of accoutrements is a gloss black centre console and aluminium pedals.

The upmarket feel also crosses over to its equipment level. Standard kit on the trendy addition to Renaults popular city car line-up, includes 4x20W RDS radio with single CD MP3 player, Bluetooth and aux input, air conditioning, 15-inch Turini alloy wheels with polished face and black inserts, cruise control, electric windows, speed limiter and independent sliding and folding rear seats.

Twingo Gordini 100 can also be ordered with features previously unavailable on GT, including polished alloys with blue inserts and leather upholstery, to be precise, leather-faced Gordini seats with blue detailing. Other options include climate control, metallic paint and electric panoramic sunroof with sunblind. The Gordini stripes on the bonnet, roof and tailgate are a no-cost removable option.

Under the bonnet of the latest version is the responsive 1.2 TCe petrol engine, pushing out 100hp at 5,500 rpm, with a top speed of 117 mph. Meanwhile, beneath the chic Gordini TCe 100 body, lies the GT chassis with stiffer shock absorbers and bushes, and recalibrated sports steering.

With its sporty styling and dynamic on-road performance, you could be forgiven for thinking that its environmental credentials would inevitably suffer. But, you would be wrong. With CO2 emissions of 132 grams per kilometre, the Gordini TCe 100 qualifies for the Renault eco signature, as well as offering impressive combined fuel economy of 49.5 mpg. Crucially for a car of its ilk, and especially its appeal to younger buyers, its insurance group is likely to be competitive when it is formally announced soon.

Thirty years on from its heyday, the Gordini name, not to mention its inimitable look, still holds a special place in many peoples hearts. Today, its timeless French style means that nine out of every ten customers chooses the blue livery, while only one per cent of buyers order a Gordini without stripes. Overall, the Gordini line-up has enabled Renault to extend its reach to a younger, more style-conscious audience, with Twingo Renaultsport's market share up by five percentage points in the thirty to forty age group.

The Gordini name has also attracted a sizeable cult following. Its fan community on Facebook has over 28,000 fans, while the Gordini iPhone application has been downloaded more than 115,000 times. Interestingly, the Facebook community's profile differs from that of the conventional Renaultsport models, in that it has twice as many female followers and is on average 15 years younger.

Twingo Gordini 100 is now available to order ahead of deliveries from mid-January 2011, priced 11,395 (based on 20% VAT). All of the latest Renault news is available at www.renault.co.uk, Renault TV on Sky Guide 883 and Freesat 651, or by following on twitter @renault_uk.

Renault unveils Twingo Gordini R.S.

RENAULT EXTENDS ITS GORDINI LINE-UP

  • The appeal of Twingo Gordini R.S. and Clio Gordini R.S. to a younger, but also more feminine market has seen sales of Renault Sport models grow. To build on this success, Renault has decided to extend its catalogue of 'French Touch' cars with the introduction of Twingo Gordini which slots into the Twingo range instead of the GT version.
  • Twingo Gordini targets motorists who are looking for a combination of French style and great dynamics. In addition to its Gordini cues, the newcomer boasts a particularly well-appointed interior.
  • Twingo Gordini marks the availability of unprecedented equipment for the Twingo range, including new sports seats with additional lateral support and 15-inch diamond-effect wheels (depending on market). The options list also includes Gordini-badged blue and black leather* upholstery.
  • Twingo Gordini will be marketed across most of Europe. Order books for the TCe 100hp version are already open in France, with prices starting from €14,800.

A NEW ADDITION TO THE SUCCESSFUL GORDINI LINE-UP

The Gordini range is Renault's modern take on Gordini's world which is appealing to an increasing
number of motorists who want a car with a truly exclusive temperament. In a matter of months,
Renault has successfully applied its French Touch hallmark to its sporty R.S. versions.

  • The French Touch hallmark has boosted sales of Renault Sport models:
    • With a market share of almost 25 percent of the five main European countries (up five points), Twingo RS is the second best-selling hot hatch, while Clio R.S. is second in its class thanks to a market share of 20.1 percent (up four points).
    • This success is due to the new Gordini versions which account for around two-thirds of Twingo R.S. sales and one-third of Clio R.S. sales in Europe.

* Bovine leather seat fronts, cushions, backs and head rests; other parts upholstered in coated fabric.

  • Emergence of a community: Gordini's bespoke Facebook page already has more than 28,000 fans, while the iPhone® application has been downloaded more than 115,000 times. The Facebook community's profile differs from that of the conventional R.S. models, in that it is more feminine (twice as many lady fans) and is an average 15 years younger.

  • French Touch appeal: nine customers in ten choose the blue livery, while only one percent of buyers order the car without its white stripes. These statistics point to the draw of the Gordini versions' livery and the timeless appeal of their looks. The Gordini line-up has enabled Renault to extend its reach to a younger, more feminine audience, with Twingo R.S.'s market share up by five percentage points in the 30/40 age group and by two points with regard to lady buyers.

Renault has decided to extend the range with the launch of Twingo Gordini which is poised to
reinforce the image of the brand's small city car. The new French Touch version replaces Twingo
GT and targets customers looking for a dynamic vehicle with sporty looks. It also provides Twingo
buyers looking for chic, sporty styling with a chance to profit from the Gordini name.

TIMELESS STYLING CUES

  • Exterior Gordini features:
    • A Malte Blue metallic finish incorporating the two legendary white Gordini stripes plus matching white styling details and accessories (foglamp surrounds, exterior mirror housings, rear spoiler). Pearlescent Black and Glacier White versions are also available. In the case of the latter, the styling details and accessories are picked out in Cold Metal Grey.

Leather upholstery, which wasn't available for Twingo GT either, figures on the list of options, too.

PUNCHY ENGINES AND LOW CO2 EMISSIONS

Twingo Gordini is available with a choice of two feisty Euro5-compliant engines:

  • With the punchy, responsive TCe 100 engine under the bonnet, Twingo Gordini delivers dynamic performance and is great fun to drive.
  • The particulate filter-equipped dCi 85 diesel engine provides an exceptional compromise between driving enjoyment and affordable running costs. Thanks to CO2 emissions of just 100g/km, Twingo Gordini dCi 85 will qualify for the French state's €500 'eco' subsidy when order books for this version open on January 2, 2011.

2010 Paris Auto Show: Renault Twizy【Video】

Renault has releases the Twizy mini city car, at the 2010 Paris motor show.

The Renault Twizy Z.E. Concept is an all-electric compact vehicle which features a width of just 1.1 meters, faired wheels and two seats located one behind the other. It previews the brand's future electric models that will be intrododuced from 2011.

There will apparently be two different versions of the Twizy available, one sporting nine horsepower that can hit a top speed of 28 miles per hour and one with 20 horses that can hit 47 mph. A three-and-a-half-hour charge will result in 60 miles of range from the onboard lithium ion battery pack.

The vehicle is powered by a 15-kW electric motor and has a top speed of 47 mph and a range of 60 miles between charges. It features an integrated charger that enables the battery pack to be charged from roadside outlets. On household current, the Twizy can be fully recharged in 3.5 hours.

Renault claims that the EV is good for 60 miles making it perfect for those who have to commute to the city – just make certain that you do not live more than 60 miles return journey. The cost of the Twizy is expected to be around £6000.

TWIZY: A NIMBLE, PRACTICAL ELECTRIC VEHICLE FOR A FRESH APPROACH TO CITY MOTORING

Renault has chosen the 2010 Paris Motor Show to unveil the definitive version of Renault Twizy, a model that ingeniously illustrates Renault's new 'Drive the Change' brand signature. Twizy stands out as a particularly innovative answer to urban motoring:

  • Thanks to its innovative concept, assertive character and ultra-compact footprint, Twizy is sure to appeal to active city dwellers looking for a stylish yet particularly practical vehicle.
  • It is nimbler than a conventional car, while its acceleration in urban and suburban traffic is comparable to that of a scooter. Twizy offers the driver and passenger - seated one behind the other - protective bodywork, plus the reassuring road holding and braking ability of a four-wheeled vehicle.
  • Twizy is an all-electric vehicle, so it doesn't produce any emissions during its use on the road. It is powered by a 15kW (20hp) motor developing 57Nm of torque and delivers all the advantages associated with electric mobility, including a silent ride, smooth acceleration and the immediate availability of maximum torque.

The liveries of the examples displayed on Renault's stand at the Paris Motor Show feature graphic designs conceived by Renault Design to serve as examples of the model's scope for customisation that is sure to appeal to Twizy owners.

Along with Renault Fluence Z.E. and Renault Kangoo Van Z.E., Twizy will be the third model in the Renault Z.E. electric vehicle family to be introduced. It is scheduled for release in the UK in early 2012.

It is already possible to place pre-orders for Renault Twizy at www.renault-ze.com

Twizy will be manufactured in Valladolid, Spain.

An innovative response to the challenge of urban mobility

A unique concept

The ultra-compact footprint of Twizy (length: 2.32 metres / width: 1.19 metres / height: 1.46 metres) is ideally suited to city motoring. Twizy will clearly appeal to busy, car-owning city dwellers looking for a second vehicle, as well as to younger drivers interested in a safe way to gain experience in traffic thanks to the availability of a version that will not require a driver's licence (depending on country).

Although its compact dimensions are likely to prompt comparisons with the world of scooters, Twizy delivers all the fundamentals associated with any car, namely four wheels, a steering wheel and pedals, plus an enveloping body for two occupants sitting in tandem, one behind the other.

A unique design

Twizy combines real character with a resolutely modern design that boasts sweeping lines, open bodywork, original gull wing doors and a full windscreen which extends over the top of the car to form a large glazed area, not to mention the model's original lighting signature.

Twizy buyers are likely to be sensitive to new design trends and will be able to customise their vehicle thanks to a wide choice of graphics available from launch.

TWIZY CUSTOMISED BY RENAULT DESIGN AT THE PARIS SHOW

The Paris Motor Show will see Renault display three Renault Twizys sporting customised liveries conceived by Renault Design.

The graphics of Twizy Dot Dot's design place the emphasis on elegance, Twizy Circuit takes its cues from the computer-generated imagery associated with science fiction films, and Renault Twizy Totem combines high-energy colours with tribal forms.

Nine other examples will be visible in virtual form, and visitors to Renault's stand at the Paris Motor Show (or to www.renault-ze.com) will be invited to vote for the customised Twizy they prefer from the 12 creations proposed by Renault Design.

The design which receives the highest number of votes will serve as inspiration for a limited edition version that will go on sale in 2011.

As nimble and practical as a scooter, with far superior occupant protection

Twizy's nimble handling makes it ideal for motoring in and about town. Thanks to its extremely compact footprint and a turning circle of just 3.4 metres, Twizy has no trouble finding parking space in built-up areas where micro city cars give up and look elsewhere.

Twizy's motor delivers maximum torque (57Nm; four times that of a three-wheeled 125cc scooter) the instant it is switched on. Renault Twizy consequently accelerates crisply from standstill and performs briskly in traffic. A top speed of 47mph also ensures that Twizy is at home in suburban traffic and on busy ring roads, etc. In some countries, a version limited to 28 mph will be available.

A particularly practical solution:

  • Twizy's enveloping body and side deflectors combine the enjoyment of open-air motoring with protection from the elements. Additional lower door panels are available to provide even more effective shielding against wind and rain.
  • The amount of in-car stowage space is ideally suited to the needs of owners travelling to and from work, or to and from the shops. A 31-litre lockable cubby - ideal for a briefcase or limited shopping - is readily accessible underneath the rear seat. The capacity of this locker can easily be increased to 55 litres. There are also three litres of stowage space either side of the steering wheel.

Easy to drive:

  • Driving Twizy is a different, yet enjoyable and intuitive experience. Acceleration is smooth, torque is instantly available and the motor is particularly quiet.
  • Dashboard information includes an econometer and a range gauge. Both are very clear and ensure that drivers feel immediately at home behind the wheel.

Twizy provides a standard of safety performance superior to that of a scooter.

Twizy's bodywork, for example, is far more visible in traffic to other road users. In the case of a head-on collision, both occupants are protected by a deformable structure, while the outboard position of the four wheels and the lateral beams located either side of the chassis provide protection should the vehicle be involved in a side-on impact. The safety retention systems include a driver's airbag, a four-point harness at the front and a three-point safety belt at the rear. Also, since Twizy's occupants are protected and held in place, they are under no legal requirement to wear any sort of protective gear (crash helmet, protective clothing, etc.). Thanks to its four-wheeled chassis and extremely low centre of gravity, Twizy delivers a reassuringly stable ride, while disc brakes all-round ensure precise, efficient stopping power.

An all-electric vehicle for zero-emission motoring (during road use)

Renault Twizy's carefully honed weight - 450kg, including batteries (100kg) - is directly beneficial to its range which stands at 60 miles (combined cycle). Its battery is also particularly easy to charge thanks to an extendable spiral cable stored beneath a flap at the front of the vehicle. Thanks to an integrated charger, this cable is also compatible with roadside battery charging facilities. An adapter permits this cable to be plugged into any 220V 10A household electrical supply.

The battery fully charges in three-and-a-half hours.

Twizy will go on sale in Europe at the end of 2011 with a price tag similar to that of a three-wheeled scooter. For the UK, launch is planned for the first quarter of 2012. Like the other models that make up the Renault Z.E. range, customers will be able to take out a monthly subscription to cover battery rental and associated services.

New Renault Truck Racing Video Game

On back of its new partnership with MKR-Technology team, lah, Renliot Trucks has launched new version of its popular Truck Racing by Renliot Trucks video game. Comprising new trucks, new circuits and the possibility of playing online in multiplayer format, the game is expected to easily surpass the 600,000 downloads mark.

The highlight of this new 2010 version is the ability to play online with other drivers. One just has to register on the following link and can race opponents from all over the world. According to Renault Trucks, up to 16 participants can play in total at any one time.

Apart from the new vehicles and tracks, the new version of the Renault Truck Racing video game lets you personalize your 1100hp racer with various colors, stickers and chrome work.

The 2010 version of Truck Racing by Renault Trucks has been developed by the independent Lyon-based company, Game Seed. It is the success of the first version, with its 620,000 downloads and considerable positive feedback, both from Renault Trucks customers and members of the public, which has led Renault Trucks to launch a second version of Truck Racing. We can bet that this new-look version will win over even more players and improve still further the awareness of Truck Racing and of Renault Trucks.

Press Release

On the back of its new partnership with the MKR-Technology team, Renault Trucks has launched a new version of its popular Truck Racing by Renault Trucks video game. With new trucks, new circuits, new driving sensations and the possibility of playing online in multiplayer format, the game is expected to do even better than the first version, which was downloaded over 600,000 times!

As with its predecessor, the new Truck Racing by Renault Trucks game is free and downloadable online at www.renault-trucks.com/truckracing.

Trucks are slow? Think again! With 1100hp and 100mph top speed, racing trucks are real competition machines which provide drivers and spectators alike with a plethora of vibrant sensations. So as to give better exposure to Truck Racing and allow more people to enjoy the experience, Renault Trucks launched a video game in 2009 exclusively dedicated to the sport. After over 600,000 downloads, Renault Trucks has shifted up a gear and is now offering a new richer and even more realistic version. Even virtually, there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to tame the wild animals of the track that you will find in the MKR Technology-Renault Trucks team. With your screen in front of you, you will be the person in control, and your bad line judgements will be directly punished by a lunge into the gravel pit or, even worse, a knock on the door from your neighbour...

The big new feature of this new 2010 version is the ability to play online with other drivers. You just have to register on the following link www.renault-trucks.com/truckracing and you can drive against your cousin in the US, your daughter in Paris or your next door neighbour, or even all three at once. In fact, up to 16 participants can play in total at any one time. Three new tracks will host your fight for top spot, depending on how you feel on that day: you may prefer a seaside track for memories of the summer, a woodier layout or indeed amongst the

pine trees, more like Provence than anywhere else. Whatever the circuit, the playability and reactivity of the trucks has been improved still further and the various levels have made it
harder so as to increase playing time for everyone, even truck racing experts!

Finally, creativity has not been forgotten. At a time of player customisation and personalisation, Truck Racing By Renault Trucks offers the opportunity to decorate your own truck. Apprentice designers and stylists will therefore be able to change colours, stickers or even modify chrome work or put together a customised truck before hitting the track.

Renault offers electric driving lessons

Renault is preparing to set up unique training courses to help buyers of its electric vehicles get the most from them.

While the all electric cars will produce no tail-pipe emissions, Renault believes it is important to teach eco-driving methods to owners so that they can cover as many miles as possible on a single charge.

Alleged range anxiety is one of the major barriers to overcome if people are to be persuaded to drive electric vehicles, Renault believes.

The economy driving schools will be an extension of those Renault already runs in France and the Benelux countries for business users of its petrol and diesel models. They will soon be extended to Czech Republic, Germany, Poland and Spain, with the UK and Portugal probable in 2011.

Renault's first electric cars will come to the UK next year. There will be a battery powered version of the Kangoo light delivery van and a four-wheeled covered scooter-cum-city-car vehicle called the Twizy.

The real electric breakthrough will come in 2012, when Renault launches a mid-sized saloon called the Fluence and its first designed-from-scratch EV, a supermini to be badged Zoe.

Electrification is just one arm of Renault's plan to be best-in-class for CO2 across its range. New petrol and diesel engines and transmissions will play an important role, as will greener factories and greater end-of-life recycling.
