Mazda at 2010 SEMA Show

Mazda is taking its “zoom zoom” philosophy to a whole new level at the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, which is taking place in Las Vegas this week. It features an aerodynamic body kit, an H&R suspension, a roll cage, Sparco seats, and lightweight 15-inch wheels with Hoosier race tires.

The Mazda 2 Street is a bit less adventuresome, with wide-profile Toyo Proxes RA-1 tires mounted on 949Racing 6UL 15-by-9-inch wheels and a light gray metallic paint job with matte graphic accents.

For the Mazda3 Turbo, designers added black exterior accents, tinted windows, and 19-inch forged aluminum wheels. Under the hood, power is provided by a 2.5-liter MZR engine which has been outfitted with a Garrett turbocharger.

Mazda’s iconic roadster also arrives in two souped up versions. The MX-5 Super20 celebrates the 20th anniversary of the droptop sports car. Under the hood lies a supercharged Cosworth engine and the paint scheme is black on gray, both of which give this MX-5 a substantially meaner aura. The other Miata at SEMA is the MX-5 Cup Car, which is a full-on spec racer outfitted with a plethora of racing equipment.

Also on show are two different Mazda3 sedans, as well as the Grand-Am GT Mazda RX-8. The SpeedSource Grand Am GT Mazda RX-8 is based on a tube-frame chassis jointly developed by SpeedSource and Riley Technologies, and powered by Mazda's three-rotor 20B Renesis rotary engine--a significantly more powerful unit than the smaller 13B engine used in the regular RX-8 sports car.

Mazda 2010 SEMA

Mazda's product lineup of sedans, sports cars and crossovers offers consumers and exciting choice for their transportation needs; a choice that offers the Soul of a Sports Car in every vehicle. Showcasing the depth and breadth of the brand, Mazda will display a slew of products, each one demonstrating Mazda's aftermarket capability and potential.

"The versatility of Mazda vehicles is extraordinary. With just minor modifications to a stock Mazda, it can be ready for the track or a car show," said Derek Jenkins, director design, MNAO. "Our SEMA cars demonstrate this ability; taking a vehicle from the dealership and making it a truly unique piece."

The newest member to the product lineup is the MAZDA2. With great styling, superb fuel economy and an affordable price tag, the 2011 MAZDA2 subcompact sedan is Zoom-Zoom in its most concentrated form. MAZDA2 is a car that only the engineers at Mazda could have created. It was designed and engineered from scratch to be a pure Mazda, offering the sort of driving experience that could only come from the company that developed the timeless MX-5 two-seat roadster, and it brings a combination of athletic design and dynamic performance to the subcompact class. Mazda Design Americas took two MAZDA2s and created a street car and a track car.

MAZDA Evil Track
The MAZDA2 Evil Track car was envisioned as a fully equipped car for series racing, and all required safety equipment to meet SCCA and NASA competition regulations. This iteration was inspired by the MAZDA2 Evil concept which debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2009. The MAZDA2 Evil Track car has an enhanced motorsport aesthetic achieved through Mazda race-inspired graphics and colors.

MAZDA2 Evil Track car is equipped with a Mazda Design aero body kit, including side skirts, front and rear air-dam and carbon fiber rear deck spoiler. Modifications include H&R race suspension and coil over kit, AWR full custom safety cage, Sparco Circuit pro seat, steering wheel, safety harness and fire system, AIM MXL Pista data acquisition system, race-tuned Magna-flow exhaust, 949 6UL 15x9 lightweight wheels and 225/45/15 Hoosier race tires.

MAZDA2 Street
The Mazda2 Street is a streetwise, urban sport inspired version of the highly successful Mazda2.
This new tougher street version is reinforced visually by using smaller diameter light weight 949 6UL 15x9 wheels and wide profile Toyo Proxes RA-1 R-compound tires. The aesthetic enhanced through the use of a light gray, superfine metallic body color and matte graphic accents.

MX-5 Super20
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the MX-5 has been re-imagined with a darker, edgier attitude in the MX5 Super20. It's a purposeful combination of street-tough style and motorsports-inspired attributes. This third generation vehicle acknowledges the iconic first-gen iteration with modifications such as a supercharged Cosworth engine, small diameter wheels, more substantial tire profile and wider fenders.

A hardtop has replaced the soft-top and the interior stripped down and fitted with a roll-bar lending a GT-inspired look and feel. The seats have suede seat inserts and channel stitching, providing improved grip for the driver. Orange contrast stitching highlights the sporty seat profile as well as providing a polished look throughout, coordinating with the exterior graphic treatment which plays off the black and Storm Gray exterior.

Additional modifications include a DPTune reflashed ECU, Racing Beat 304-stainless steel header and exhaust, ACT organic street clutch, MAZDASPEED coil overs, Racing Beat hollow front and rear anti-roll bars, MAZDASPEED shock tower brace, Power Slot slotted brake rotors, StopTech DOT-compliant stainless steel brake lines and street performance brake pads, SpeedSource front brake ducts, 16x9 Enkei RPF1 wheels wrapped with 245/45-R16 Toyo Proxes RA-1 R-compound tires, 20mm H&R Trak+ hubcentric bolt-on wheel spacers in the rear and 15mm Sparco hubcentric wheel spacers up front.

MAZDA3 Redline Time Attack
The Redline Time Attack Super Modified series is where you see the fastest road racing tuner cars in the country. Full use of carbon/composite body panels, big wings, tires and lots of power are common. The fastest Super Modified class cars can run lap times faster than World Challenge GT cars and are close to surpassing American Le Mans Series GT2 lap times - top speeds at some tracks will surpass 180 mph.

The MAZDA3 Reline Time Attack car is a Super Modified (unlimited rules) class car with more than 500 horsepower at the wheels from a highly modified 2.5-liter turbocharged MZR engine. It features 280/650/18 Yokohama Advan Racing slick tires on 18x10.5 Volk Racing TE-37 wheels.

MAZDA3 Turbo Sedan
A small team of designers and engineers at Mazda R&D in Irvine, Calif., decided to have a little fun with a MAZDA3. The team took its knowledge of the Mazda parts bin and its close relationships with MAZDASPEED Motorsports suppliers, looked in the mirror, and decided to build a tuner car that shows its own vision of the MAZDA3.

The car is painted to mimic the MAZDA3 Time Attack race car, but in a more subdued Crystal White Pearl base coat with soft gray tone graphics. The scheme is a modern twist on the famous Renown graphics used on the Mazda 787B that won Le Mans in 1991. Exterior details, including grille inserts, side mirrors, fog lamp bezels, the roof panel, and the formerly chrome interior of the front lamps are all given a bright black paint treatment. Combined with tinted windows, and dark red taillight lenses, the dark details tighten the car visually, emphasizing the MAZDA3's taught, muscular shape much like a tailored black suit on an athlete. Wheels are forged aluminum 19x8-inch with 225/40-19 Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires straight off the RX-8 R3.

The sedan was sent to Tri-Point Engineering for a boost in power, so they installed a turbo kit utilizing a rugged cast iron turbo manifold feeding a high-efficiency Garrett GT2871R ball bearing turbo. At a mild 10 psi of boost, the 2.5-liter MZR engine is making well over 250 horsepower at the wheels. To handle this extra power, the front brakes were replaced with rotors and calipers from a MAZDASPEED3, while the rear rotors and calipers were sourced from a MAZDA5. Double-adjustable coil-overs from KW Suspension, paired with a Tri-Point adjustable rear stabilizer bar bring the handling back into harmony with the engine's higher output.

Grand-Am GT Mazda RX-8
The SpeedSource Grand Am GT Mazda RX-8 is based on a tube-frame chassis jointly developed by SpeedSource and Riley Technologies, and powered by Mazda's three-rotor 20B Renesis rotary engine. The 20B three-rotor engine is the cornerstone of Mazda's Grand Am GT RX-8 program, and based on the engine used in the RX-8 street car. With its compact size and light weight, the rotary engine brings with it a vast history in sprint and endurance racing. Revving to over 9,000 rpm, the distinctive 20B rotary engine sounds like no other engine on the Grand Am ROLEX GT grid.

The Mazda RX-8 dominated the 2010 Grand-AM GT season winning six of 12 races, and winning the drivers, team, and manufacturers championship.

MX-5 Cup Car
The most road-raced car in the world -- as well as being the best-selling two-seat roadster in the world - the MX-5 Miata is no stranger to the track. The MX-5 Cup is a series that pits similarly modified MX-5s together on the track. The MX-5 Cup car weighs just under 2,600 pounds and features an authoritative 195-horsepower motor. The series was launched in 2006 and has since enjoyed strong fields and close competition.

Engine Modifications: A MAZDASPEED cold air intake system is required.
Chassis Modifications: The only modification is the addition of the 3-piece front strut tower brace that comes with the sport package.

Transmission/Final Drive Modifications: The stock six-speed gearbox is used by all cars.
Suspension/Steering Modifications: The MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development MX-5 Cup kit is comprised of double adjustable shocks, specified springs and threaded-perch coil-overs. All cars also run identical anti-roll bars and end links.

Brake System Modifications: Brakes must maintain stock brake rotor specifications.
Wheels: All cars run their choice of the stock alloy 17x7" wheels available on MX-5 Miatas.
Tires: The series spec tire is the BFGoodrich g-Force R1, size: 225/45/17.
Body Modifications: None
Safety Modifications: All MX-5 Cup cars run with full safety equipment, including an eight-point rollcage that must be welded into the car. Other safety equipment includes a racing seat, head/neck restraint, an electrical shut-off switch and an incorporated fire-extinguishing system.

2010 SEMA Preview: Mummbles Marketing 2011 Hyundai Equus

Hyundai has already shown us its GoGoGear Racing Genesis Coupe and a Rhys Millen Racing Equus. Now we get two more looks at what they're bringing to SEMA this week. Hyundai has teamed up with DUB Magazine and Mummbles Marketing on a pair of Equus sedans.

The new project comes from Mummbles Marketing and is a radical proposal. First off, the tuner promises to squeeze 450 hp out of the saloon’s V8 engine, using a turbocharger kit. To cope with the extra power, the vehicle will also offer updated brakes and suspension.

Mechanical mods include an Air Lift digital air suspension with extended air springs and struts, Wilwood brakes and 22-inch Work Equip wheels with Falken FK452 ultra-low-profile tires.

For the engine, the tuner will offer a new turbo kit and a new Magnaflow dual-exhaust system, plus some new brakes and a new suspension system. The engine will be pumping out 65 more hp than the V8 found in the current Equus and 21 hp more than the 5.0-liter Tau V-8 powered Equus due to the work done on the turbo kit by Mummbles, Legacy Innovations, and S-Max.

One very cool feature of this car is the Apple iPad control center that can be used to operate some of the features such as ride height, luxury curtains, stereo and windows.

FORD MUSTANG LEGACY AT SEMA CONTINUES WITH POWERFUL, STYLISH VERSIONS OF THE 2011 PONY CAR

  • Ford Mustang is sure to please at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas Nov. 2-5, where nine Mustangs will show off their performance and style
  • A Mustang GT by Ford Vehicle Personalization uses a white and coral theme along with several Ford Custom Accessories items painted in liquid silver to give this car a look all its own. Other Mustangs show off themes such as breast cancer awareness and street warrior
  • Along with customized versions of Mustang, the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 will give visitors to the Ford stand a look at the reinvented legendary road race machine from the late 1960s

Ford Motor Company is tapping the 2010 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas to showcase nine customized versions of Mustang, displaying the vehicles alongside the new Mustang Boss 302.

"The 2011 model year sets a new standard for Mustang, with everything from bringing back the revered 5.0-liter V8 Mustang GT to the all-aluminum 3.7-liter engine in the Mustang V6 with 305 horsepower and 31 mpg. And it doesn't stop for 2012, with the Mustang Boss 302 reveal and the track-ready Laguna Seca version," said Jim Owens, Mustang brand manager. "SEMA is a great way for Ford to not only show customers what's new for Mustang, but what they can do to make it their own Mustang."

While the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 is sure to impress visitors at the Ford stand, a variety of Mustangs on display also will give consumers an idea of the endless possibilities for making it a one-of-a-kind pony car.

"People understand Mustang and they fall in love with the emotion of the car, but at the same time they want to bring a little of their individuality to the table," said Melvin Betancourt, Ford design manager. "So if you're a Mustang enthusiast looking to set your Mustang apart from others, SEMA is like going into a toy store full of inspirational imagery. At the end of the day you have a Mustang that reflects the personality of the customer's vision."

This Mustang GT has a look all its own
A Mustang GT by Ford Vehicle Personalization shows what can be fashioned using Ford Custom Accessories items and some serious creativity. The exterior of the car is coated in a custom white tri-coat color developed by Sherwin-Williams. The paint has coral undertones, a color used throughout the car.

"This theme is a perfect fit for Mustang - it really shows off the design features inside and out that set it apart from the rest," said Mark Conforzi, Ford Vehicle Personalization chief designer. "This Mustang works so well because it will let the customer's imagination run wild with just how much they can do to their car."

Ford Custom Accessories items are used to give consumers a sense of what can be done with Mustang, and include a rear pedestal spoiler, rear quarter window louvers, side scoops and a billet grille - all covered in a concept liquid silver finish. The look is rounded out with 18-inch machined liquid silver wheels, similar to the ones standard on the California Special Mustang. To check out the accessories used, visit www.fordaccessoriesstore.com.

The interior of the Mustang features a concept design that uses white and black Ultrafabrics material on a variety of surfaces, with inserts that resemble carbon fiber. The white material is highlighted on the seats, door inserts, steering wheel and dash appliqué. Coral accents also set the mood inside, where they are used on the steering wheel, gauge cluster, shifter knob and air vents. Interior styling also includes coral accent lighting for a unique touch.

Other Mustang project vehicles showcased at this year's SEMA show include:

SEMA PREVIEW : 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392【Video】

Chrysler has unveiled new Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, which will debut at the 2010 SEMA show next week,

It features revised styling and a new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 with 470 hp (350 kW / 477 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. Details are limited, but Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles confirmed the engine will have a variable intake manifold, multi-cylinder deactivation, and VVT technology. Thanks to these changes, the new SRT8 will be 15-20% more fuel efficient than its predecessor. Deliveries are scheduled to occur shortly after Thanksgiving (November 25th).

The Challenger SRT8 392 also employs a reworked suspension with even firmer shocks, a quicker steering ratio and more negative camber than before, all of which are supposed to help the hefty muscle bruiser tackle the corners with a little more finesse.

The SRT8 392 is offered with the choice of two color combos -either Deep Water Blue finish with standard Stone White stripes or Bright White Clear Coat with standard Viper Blue stripes, and comes equipped with unique "392 HEMI" badges, Mopar quad exhaust tips, a larger front splitter, a decklid spoiler and integrated front fender spats. The car's looks are complemented by a set of 20-inch SRT-exclusive wheels.

Mopar® Previews Customized Vehicles for 2010 SEMA ShowChrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep® and Ram Truck Vehicles Get Mopar® Treatment

Mopar® is preparing 35 vehicles for the upcoming 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, which takes place Nov. 2-5 in Las Vegas. Mopar will fill its 15,300-square-foot space with customized Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep® and Ram Truck vehicles.

"With five exhibits, the Mopar brand will have a major presence at SEMA," said Pietro Gorlier, President and Chief Executive Officer - Mopar, Chrysler Group's service, parts and customer-care brand. "Mopar will showcase cutting-edge technology, innovative accessories, authentic parts, and new customer-care initiatives. And our Moparized vehicles will be must-see."

"We created an amazing cast of Mopar image vehicles for SEMA," said Ralph Gilles, President and Chief Executive Officer, Dodge Car Brand and Senior Vice President - Product Design. "As all of our new vehicles arrive in dealerships this year, we want to inspire customization and personalization. Our Mopar image vehicles will definitely turn heads."

The Mopar Underground group and the Mopar design team worked together to create these image vehicles. Projects originated in the Chrysler Group Product Design office and were led by Mark Allen, Chief Designer - Head of Jeep Design Studio, and Jeff Gale, Advance Studio Design Lead. In addition to image vehicles, other "Moparized" vehicles for the show were developed under the direction of Brian Rogos, Head of Accessories and Performance Parts, and Pat Muldoon, Head of Mopar Product Development.

Following are Mopar image vehicles that will be on display at SEMA:

2011 RedLine Dodge Charger
America's baddest sedan gets a little more fearsome. The diehard enthusiasts at Mopar Underground wasted no time in taking the not-yet-in-market 2011 Dodge Charger under their wing.

"We let the designers of the production car and their friends at Mopar rip," said Gilles. "I wanted them to show us what they would do with this vehicle if it were their own dream car."

The RedLine Charger brings the 2011 version of the popular vehicle lower to the ground with a tuned suspension that lowers the car one inch. The RedLine Charger's aggressive appearance is backed by the 5.7-liter HEMI® engine tucked under a unique aluminum hood. Mopar parts, including headers, an exhaust system and a cold-air intake, provide horsepower and torque gains, while a Mopar strut tower brace amps up the handling and driveability needed to corral the additional horsepower.

The RedLine Charger's power matches its stealthy appearance. The blacked-out feel is accomplished with a black roof, front lower and rear-end treatment and continues with carbon fiber mirror caps. The 22-inch staggered-width Super Alloy wheels, with Pirelli tires wrapped around (265/35/22 front, 295/30/22 rear), follow the blacked-out theme as do the unique carbon fiber lower air dam/splitter and rear spoiler, created by the Mopar Underground team specifically for the RedLine Charger. Headlamps and tail lamps also get the blacked-out treatment.

Recalling Dodge Charger's legendary heritage is a side scoop reminiscent of the scoop on the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. The black side scoop is emblazoned with a red R/T logo, offering a nice tie-in to the RedLine Red paint employed on the RedLine Charger.

A trip inside the red-and-black interior reveals a driver-oriented theme, with custom RedLine all-aluminum driver and console bezels. The interior is highlighted with satin and bright chromed bezels that accent the refined details. Mopar Katzkin performance seats trimmed in Radar Red Nappa leather with bright red stitching offer another striking interior enhancement. A unique SRT® steering wheel featuring prototype paddle shift controls completes the interior.

2011 Dodge Durango Citadel "Black & Tan"
Dodge views the new Citadel as the ultimate expression of the 2011 Dodge Durango, the perfect canvas for the distinguished SUV enthusiast. The vehicle was developed as a representation of the current trend in tasteful customization.

This special edition of the Citadel utilizes the clean lines of the 2011 Dodge Durango. Its stunning, shiny black paint color is the perfect backdrop for the evolution of the modern urban SUV. Its 22-inch custom-forged aluminum Super Alloy wheels are highly polished with hyper-silver accents. The Citadel also features an exclusive chrome-textured grille and polished stainless steel tips of the Mopar/Corsa custom exhaust. The Citadel "Black & Tan", riding on Pirelli tires, was dropped with Mopar lowering springs, complementing its stunning new stance.

The shiny black exterior is matched on the inside with an all-new interior, crafted by the new Chrysler interior studio that is bent on redefining American quality and unparalleled comfort. The timeless design features sculpted soft panels throughout with world-class fit and finish, complete with the liberal use of premium materials and three rows of gorgeous Nappa leather seats. The new "Black & Tan" interior combo was inspired by some of the finest super cars in the world.

2010 Fiat 500 (European version)
This vehicle is an extreme version of the popular European version of the Fiat 500, which has won 60 international awards, including the 2008 European Car of the Year and the 2009 World Car Design of the Year.

The concept car features a number of unique parts created by the Mopar Underground team, including a front airdam/lip, lower sill, spoiler, rear valance and brake ducts. The 2010 Fiat 500 features a lower ride height on 18-inch Alcoa wheels and flared wheel arches reminiscent of the Fiat 500 models that dominated race tracks in Europe back in the day.

The vehicle rides on Pirelli tires with a mean, wheels-out-and-down stance that is accentuated by a Dark Thunderbolt Gray exterior. The black roof, black hood, headlamp and fascia graphics tie the headlamps together. The lower "chin" of the Fiat 500 hooks up with a flare that surrounds the front wheel. A lower side sill, also in black, adorns the sides.

The interior is driver-focused, with a red seat and red door insert on the driver's side, with piano-black accents on the instrument panel. The remainder of the interior is outfitted in a subdued black.

The always-sporty Fiat 500 is bolstered with the power and performance that comes with Mopar parts. Mopar bolt-ons include a Mopar custom exhaust system that provides horsepower and torque gains and a Mopar strut tower brace that reduces body flex in the front end and improves drivability and handling.

Two additional Fiat 500 vehicles will be on display in the Mopar Alley, outfitted with a full complement of Mopar parts and accessories. The all-new Fiat 500 will be available for ordering in the U.S. later this year in the Sport, Pop and Lounge models, followed by the all-new Fiat 500C (cabrio) in the spring of 2011.

2011 Wrangler Sahara Mopar Edition
Take the iconic Jeep Wrangler, bolt on a bushel of Mopar parts and accessories, and you've got an extreme Moparized off-road machine: the 2011 Wrangler Sahara Mopar Edition.

The Mopar lift augments off-road travel performance for the 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara and allows for 35-inch all-terrain tires that can handle whatever the trail dishes out, mounted on sturdy AEV wheels. Further defending the vehicle from the onslaught of the off-road are steel front and rear bumpers. The front bumper includes integrated fog lights to improve visibility in inclement weather; the AEV-designed rear bumper features a tire carrier.

The Mopar/AEV hood provides the proper protection from the debris of the off-road, with a Warn winch at the ready in case of an emergency. The 2011 Jeep Wrangler Sahara can't be missed on the trail with a hardtop and flares that match its fire-red exterior color.

2011 Jeep Street Cherokee
The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee is also on the receiving end of a Mopar-style makeover. For the 2011 Jeep Street Cherokee, the Chrysler Group Product Design crew created custom 22-inch alloy wheels, while at the same time lowering the vehicle. The Dark Charcoal Overland edition Grand Cherokee is powered by a 5.7-liter V-8 engine, with an exhaust trimmed in Corsa tips.

The Jeep Street Cherokee is customized in typical all-Mopar style. Mopar floor mats with a unique design prevent dirt and mud from invading the interior. Mopar's lighted door-entry sills and bright/rubber pedal kit offer much-needed visibility when adventures extend well past sundown. Stainless steel door sills are etched with the Mopar logo and offer stylish protection.

Additional sizzle is served up with a new custom lower front fascia, painted handles, and blacked-out headlamps. The Mopar chromed grille adds additional bling but doesn't sacrifice durability, meeting the toughest corrosion requirements.

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road Edition
To get ready for the off-road, go big. Case in point: the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-Road Edition.

The 5.7-liter V8-powered silver Jeep Grand Cherokee boasts a suspension lifted with coil springs to make way for 33-inch BFG Mud-Terrain tires. The exterior is prepped for off-road battle courtesy of Mopar skid plates, rock rails and tow hooks. The interior has been upfitted with the Mopar bright/rubber pedal kit and sill guards.
