Yaris’ exterior was styled at Toyota’s European Design studio, ED2, in Nice, France.
Twelve hatchback models are offered, with the choice of two body styles, two engines, two transmissions and three equipment grade levels.
Eight models share an improved 1.5-litre VVT-i engine, and four models have an improved 1.3-litre VVT-i engine.
Both engines can be matched to a five-speed manual transmission or an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with a gated shift. All Yaris models have fuel-saving electric power-assisted steering, factory-fitted air conditioning, dual SRS airbags, and ABS anti-skid brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).
All models can also offer an optional Enhanced Safety Pack (ESP) that combines front-seat side airbags, side curtain-shield airbags and driver’s seat knee airbags.Yaris’ ride and handling, interior comfort and interior appointments have the feel of a larger vehicle.The all-new interior includes MP3-compatible audio units, digital instruments, rotary-dial heater and air conditioning controls, a versatile 60:40 split and fold-flat rear seat and up to 25 storage locations including a driver’s glove box.The majority of models have telescopic as well as tilt steering column adjustment and audio controls on the steering wheel.
